los artistas Mauricio Rodríguez y Said Dokins fueron seleccionados en el III Festival Internacional de Vídeo Arte, Camagüey, 2010 que se celebrará en la ciudad de Camagüey (Cuba) del 26 al 30 de noviembre del 2010. Este festival permite la oportunidad de presentar nuevas obras de vídeo-arte, de artistas emergentes o consagrados. En la edición de este año, se recibieron 310 obras de 182 artistas de 34 países y fueron admitidas 102 obras de 125 artistas de 31 nacionalidades.
Los paises representados entre los artistas que enviaron sus obras fueron: Alemania/ Argentina/ Austria/ Bélgica/ Brasil/ Canadá/ Chile/ China/ Colombia /Costa Rica/ Cuba/ Ecuador/ España/ Eslovenia/ Estonia/ E.U.A/ Francia/ Grecia/ Holanda/ Honduras/ India/ Inglaterra/ Iran/ Irlanda/ Italia/ Marruecos/ México/ Nigeria/ Noruega/ Perú/ Rumania/ Suecia/ Suiza/ Turquía.

RE-Birth. Finalista en Digital Graffiti Festival at Alys Beach
Said Dokins y Muricio Rodríguez han sido seleccionados en la edición del festival: Digital Graffiti Festival at Alys Beach 2010 por su trabajo de videoarte Re-birth.
En este concurso participaron más de 270 trabajos de artistas de todo el mundo, incluyendo trabajos de artistas de Eslovenia, Polonia, México, Grecia, Australia, Irlanda, Escocia, Argentina, Alemania, Italia, Canadá, Holanda, Bélgica y Estados Unidos.
El festival se llevará a cabo de 8:30 pm hasta la medianoche del Sábado, 12 de junio 2010.

2010 Digital Graffiti Finalists Announced!
Organizers of the third annual “Digital Graffiti Festival at Alys Beach” said that they were overwhelmed by hundreds of extraordinary submissions from local, domestic and international artists.
Digital Graffiti is the world’s first projection art festival, where artists use the latest technologies to project their original video and interactive artworks onto the iconic white walls of an entire beach resort town.
“We received entries from all over the U.S. as well as from digital artists in 17 other countries, including places such as Slovenia, Poland, Mexico, Greece, Australia, Bulgaria, Israel, Scotland, Argentina, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands and Belgium, among others,” said Kelli Arnold, Alys Beach’s Events Coordinator. “From a field of nearly 300 entries, our selection committees narrowed it down to 36 amazing finalists.”
On the night of Saturday, June 12th, those 36 finalists will compete for $10,000 in cash prizes, including a $5,000 “Best of Show” award sponsored by Alys Beach, a $2,000 prize for the most innovative/experimental creation sponsored by the Florida Office of Film & Entertainment, and a $1,000 “Best Local Submission” award sponsored by 30A.com. The 30A.com “Best Local Submission” honor will be awarded to an artist who resides full-time in Florida’s Walton, Bay, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Bay or Washington County.
Winners will ultimately be decided by a panel of celebrity and industry judges, including Alan Hunter, film producer and MTV’s very first “VJ”; Lucia Fishburne, The State of Florida’s Film Commissioner; Colleen Duffley, professional photographer and owner of Studio b; and Brett Phares, professor of interactive media at Marist College in New York, among others.
The festival will be held from 8:30pm until Midnight on Saturday, June 12th, 2010, rain or shine. Advanced tickets are on sale now at www.alysbeachevents.ticketleap.com. Tickets are $15 for adults (12+) and $5 for children (ages 3-12) until May 14th. From May 15 through June 11, tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children. Any tickets sold at the event gate will be $25 for adults and $10 for children.

SAID DOKINS Y MAURICIO RODRIGUEZ GANAN SEGUNDO LUGAR EN EL FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE ANIMACIÓN CUT OUT FEST 2009
El Festival Internacional de Animación Cut Out Fest en su edición 2009 otorgó el premio de segundo lugar en animación al diseñador y comunicador visual Mauricio Rodriguez y al artista urbano Said Dokins en la categoría "no narrativa, nuevas formas de ver" por su trabajo de video-arte con graffiti de luz "Re- Birth". Este Festival Internacional de Animación Cut Out Fest fue realizado en Querétaro los días 12, 13 y 14 de Noviembre del 2009. La ceremonia de premiación contó con grandes personalidades y artistas del mundo de la animación a nivel internacional y se realizó el homenaje a Carlos Carrera con la presentación de su cortometraje "El Heroe", fue una noche maravillosa en las tierras queretanas, de mucha fiesta y diversión , asi como una muestra excepcional de animaciones de artistas de todo el mundo, destacando la participación de The Blackheart Gang de Africa, el festival de Berlín Pictoplasma, Blu de Italia y no podía faltar selección de cortos del festival Animasivo, entre otras cosas bastante buenas.

RE-BIRTH EN EL FESTIVAL DE ARTES MEDIALES ASM´TRIA
MUESTRA INTERNACIONAL DE VIDEOARTE A5IM´TRIA.Se presentará la obra RE-BIRTH de los artistas visuales Mauricio Rodriguez y Said Dokins, en este festival de artes mediales en Perú A5IM´TRIA. Cabe destacar que la muestra comprende varias actividades y que México representa en distintas disciplinas como instalación y con Christian Galarreta, video arte con: Vj dogon, Azucena Losana, Xolotl Polo, Mauricio Rodriguez.

A5IM´TRIA es un espacio de intercambio, discusión y colaboración internacional, donde convergen sectores y actores relacionados al arte, los nuevos medios y la cultura digital, para difundir su trabajo y valorar el aporte de este lenguaje a la Sociedad contemporánea; se desarrollará en las ciudades de Lima, Arequipa y Cusco entre el 04 y el 13 de Noviembre del 2009. Es la quinta edición de un proyecto que se ha manejado con una frecuencia casi anual desde el año 2006, teniendo como foco principal la ciudad de Arequipa.
El proyecto para este año convoca a creadores de diversas naciones, en contextos similares y a la vez diferentes, para exponer a través de diversos medios: video, sonido, programación, investigación, debate, sus pareceres e inquietudes relativos al desarrollo cultural de sus sociedades en arte, ciencia y tecnología, y los puentes que se tienden entre ellos, mostrando elementos propios de la Cultura Libre: Software Open Source, formación, investigación, colaboración y copyleft.
El Festival funciona como espacio de difusión para propuestas, basadas en medios alternativos, de artistas y creadores de diferentes naciones, hasta la propuesta de este año que además propone actividades de discusión y formación en estos lenguajes, para producir intercambio, generar conciencia y una cultura viva alternativa a la clásica o tradicional, siendo éste el principal objetivo del Festival. Durante sus 10 días de actividad reunirá proyecciones de video, conciertos de arte sonoro, conferencias y charlas, talleres y una muestra de instalaciones sonoras y visuales, además de una casi completa acción de streaming de las actividades en directo.
Said Dokins y Mauricio Rodriguez Finalistas en Digital Graffiti Festival at Alys Beach 2009
Said Dokins y Mauricio Rodriguez colaboran actualmete en un proyecto sobre graffiti de luz y multimedia. El prmer proyecto llamado METAMORFOSIS.
Este proyecto es una reflexión sobre la “hibridismo”, traducida en los cambios y las mezclas que puede tener una elemento gráfico como lo es el graffiti, es este caso se utiliza la energía lumínica como elemento de cambio. A partir de fotografías de graffiti de luz un sistema de programación, se genera un vídeo interactivo que consta de varios planos aleatorios y cambiantes a partir de valores numéricos, tags de graffiti posicionados en diversos lugares y planos en el espacio y que son sensibles a las variaciones de sonido, de este modo la luz se contrae o se expande dependiendo de los sonido altos y bajos, así mismo tenemos letras de graffiti de luz que se transforman a partir de valores numéricos y que funcionan como partículas ligeras que se mueven en el espacio dirigidas por el mouse o el teclado. De esta manera tenemos un graffiti abstracto de luz, funciona a partir de sentencias de las personas presentes, el vídeo muestra una de las diversas posibilidades visuales que tiene esta metodología de hibridismo y mezcla.

This project is a reflection on the "hybridism", translated into the changes and mixtures may have a graphic element such as graffiti, in this case the light energy is used as an element of change. From photographs of graffiti light a programming system, an interactive video that consists of several random drawings and changing from numerical values, graffiti tags are positioned in different places and planes in space and are sensitive to variations of sound, thus the light shrinks or expands depending on the sound high and low, and we have light graffiti letters that are transformed from numerical values and to function as light particles that move in space directed by the mouse or keyboard. In this way we light a graffiti abstract works from judgments of the persons present, the video shows a variety of visual possibilities of this methodology is that “hybridism” and mixing.

2009 Finalists Announced!
Digital Graffiti will be held on Saturday, June 6th.
Organizers of the second annual “Digital Graffiti” festival said that they were overwhelmed by the high quality of submissions from local, domestic and international artists.
Digital Graffiti is the world’s first outdoor projection art festival, where artists use the latest technologies to project their original animations, videos and abstract imagery onto the iconic white walls of Alys Beach, Florida.
“We received entries from digital artists all over the United States and from 14 different countries, as far away as Thailand, Belgium, India, Italy, Australia and Brazil,” said Kelli Arnold, Events Coordinator. “The panel really had a tough time choosing our 2009 finalists.”
To help attract artists, the festival is offering $6,000 in cash prizes, including a $2,000 “Best of Show” award sponsored by the State of Florida Governor’s Office of Film & Entertainment (www.filminflorida.com) and a $1,000 “Best Local Submission” award sponsored by 30A.com. All winners will ultimately be decided by a panel of celebrity and industry judges, including Andrés Duany, founder of “New Urbanism”; Alan Hunter, film producer and MTV’s very first “VJ”; Lucia Fishburne, The State of Florida ’s Film Commissioner; Terry Slaughter, President of Slaughter Group, an award-winning strategic design and branding firm; Colleen Duffley, professional photographer and owner of Studio b; Brett Phares, professor of interactive media at Marist College in New York; and author and marketing guru, Jonathan Salem Baskin.

This year’s Digital Graffiti festival — presented by Cinemin™ Swivel pico projectors — will be hosted by international style icon INDIA HICKS, an author, Ralph Lauren fashion model, and host of Bravo’s Top Design television series. India is Prince Charles’ cousin, and is in line to succeed to the British throne. In fact, in 1981, India served as bridesmaid to Diana, Princess of Wales. She is also the daughter of legendary interior designer David Hicks, who was hailed by The New York Times as “the most famous decorator of his day.” India’s visit is sponsored in part by Studio b.
Tokyo-based VJ Shantell Martin — recently named one of the “Top 10 VJs” in the world — will perform during the festival, which will be held from 8:30pm until Midnight on Saturday, June 6th, rain or shine.

Proyecto: Máscaras de payasos.Año: 2006
La gente que vende informalmente a menudo sufre de ataques por parte de la policía para ser removidos del lugar, por esta razón los comerciantes informales tienen que desarrollar estrategias como las que nosotros desarrollamos para no ser sorprendidos por la policía. Lo que los comerciantes hacen es deshacerse lo mas rápido posible de las envolturas de sus productos y de los empaques para aminorar el volumen de su mercancía( de dudosa procedencia o probablemente china)
Esta basura que los comerciantes tiran es la que yo he recogido de las calles “EL SALVADOR” y “PINO SUAREZ”, esto en el llamado “Zócalo capitalino”.
Este proyecto consiste básicamente en modificar estos cartoncillos encontrados en la calle y plantear metafóricamente una analogía entre los comerciantes informales y los artistas de la calle, que en ambos casos actúan ilegalmente.
La modificación consiste en pintar cada uno de estos cartoncillos con acuarelas y acrílicos, el resultado es una serie de máscaras con el tema del payaso. La forma predeterminada de los cartoncillos es como de una especie de antifaz, los nuevos antifaces aluden al anonimato de la identidad de los artistas callejeros y la de los comerciantes. Los payasos aluden al acto, al hecho de “burlar”. En ambos casos se trata de “burlar” a la policía para lograr los fines deseados: pintar - vender.
